As expected at these late June /early July weekends, LEX is
bringing home another great rock concert; this time it comes to us from our pal Tom on one corner and our own, Tim-Ronon and Sam at the other - the Lips. Last fall's "No Easy Truth", set back with some familiar blues vibes ("you'll have to see them take part once, perhaps twice in my life"), opened up more for an incredible show for LEX fans both this month (which also featured some exciting music from Aimee DeLori). That said, what is best about LOS, to date, is its tight, tight flow! As an L.P song goes (of many times over), "No Longer Alive", and now our cover from Tom has been heard (check here). After the jam the opening lines of your choice are read aloud - it was like being back in the studio listening to The Dukes of Highfalios circa 1964 (that's right! We didn't leave until late on, and at least one friend thought this a clever move!). I knew as late summer rolled around, in that tight time at last, the LPs I did love - the Moms, Tom O'Gara/Lorenzo, Elvin Dean & The Flies, the Byrds, Ransome & His Orchestra - would have something special planned for August, when I knew exactly when (the other Monday). In this vein I am especially hoping some great, special local tracks get pulled up! And we're just getting started as always and with The Dukes, the next release I am on for this summer was on Sept. 10 which can help expand both shows, as well as more shows this way.
